Wealth inequality revealed in investigations of archaeological burials is a valuable means to study the evolution of social stratification and civilization. The Chalcolithic period and the Early Bronze Age saw a gradually widening gap in both wealth and social status, with apparent regional differences. Chinese archaeologist Professor Jianye Han explores the formation of regional traditions.
