Professor Benjamin Cowling, an acclaimed infectious disease epidemiologist, moved to Hong Kong in 2004 after the SARs epidemic. He is at the forefront of informing local and international governments and agencies on population wide measures to slow down transmission to contain the spread of COVID-19. His expertise and capacity continues to expand beyond influenza research into many other diseases and decision making capacities to contribute to global health security.
