KE Lecture on European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Transition Report 2018-19: Work in Transition

Entitled Work in Transition, the Transition Report 2018-19 focuses on the transformation of work in the EBRD regions and beyond. This transformation is progressing along several dimensions at once: rapid demographic change, automation of jobs, increased migration across borders and movement of people towards more densely populated areas. The report explores how the interplay between demographic change, technology and migration can shape economic growth and jobs in the future. The analysis in the report builds on comprehensive individual-level and country-level data on adult skills, use of industrial robots across sectors and countries, asylum seekers in Europe in 2015-16 and individuals' intentions to migrate in the next 12 months. In many instances, the presentation will make parallels - and draw distinctions - with transformation of work in Asian economies.
